Artist Statement — Dark Horizon
Acrylic on Canvas with Resin Finish | 120 x 120 cm | Framed in Black
Dark Horizon is a study in contrast, convergence, and quiet tension. Rendered in a stark black and white palette, the composition is minimal in form yet layered in meaning — a visual pause that invites contemplation. A jagged horizon line cuts across the canvas, where the weight of the black lower half meets the lightness of the white upper section, creating a point of convergence that feels both grounded and infinite.
The work speaks to thresholds — emotional, physical, and perceptual. It suggests a boundary, but also the possibility of what lies beyond it. The stark division holds space for ambiguity: is this a landscape, a memory, a metaphor? The polished resin coat adds depth and reflection, allowing the viewer to subtly enter the work, to see themselves suspended in that moment between darkness and light, solidity and openness.
Beyond the Horizon is not about answers, but presence. It asks what we believe exists past the visible edge — and whether we are ready to move toward it.
